ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering and is the crypto industry’s equivalent to an Initial Public Offering (IPO). It acts as a mechanism to raise capital for various blockchain-related projects by selling digital currencies.
Interested investors can buy into the crypto offering and obtain a new cryptocurrency token issued by the project or company. This token may have additive features or utility for using the services or products that the company has to offer. In some cases, it may just represent a stake in the project or the company.
ICO coins often come with benefits such as privileged access to services and products and revenue distribution. It provides an opportunity to experiment and build innovative and decentralized business models.
